- 有capstone project
- BIDA要求的學分比較多，基本上沒太有機會選別的課程(2018)
- 可以選其他學院(CS學院)的課程，有些熱門課要排waitlist，但只要肯排下去，基本上都能選上(2019)
- 可以透過免修考試waive的課：
Accounting and Finance Foundations、Decision Making Under Uncertainty(上過兩門及以上的運籌學並且都是A-以上的話)、Object-Oriented Programming in Java、Database、Economic Analysis、Statistics for IT Managers、Distributed Systems for ISM(2018) - 推薦elective：CS課程
10601/10701 Introduction to Machine Learning：上過MS10601或 PHD10701任何一門就可以應對絕大部分machine learning相關的面試問題
11785 Introduction to Deep Learning：5個project，主要講語音識別和圖像處理，拿B以上的同學就可以勝任deep learning engineer的工作了
17683 Data Structures for Application Programmers：教授Terry Lee講得很好
10605 Machine Learning with Large Datasets

15688 Practical Data Science：非常偏應用，最後是end to end的project (從數據獲取、預處理、建模、評估，到應用)
- 可以做RA跟TA，有些人會做independent study，再和prof做研究(2019)
- 規定要暑期實習，找實習比找全職難(2019)
- 內耗多多少少是有的，但影響並不大(2018)
- 關於找工作的節奏：一般入學過15-20天基本就開始找實習，很多大廠集中在Fall招實習生，Spring只是在補招，所以想去大廠盡量早些準備(2019)
- Career fair很多，很多大公司都會來CMU，招聘DS的崗位也挺多的(2019)
- 學長學姐推薦回來的崗位比較多，而且投遞成功率比較高(2018)
- 學校的career service每天會發很多關於求職相關的信息，包括改簡歷、一對一mock interview、開講座、校友幫推等(2019)
- 2018屆BIDA薪資：mean 11.3W美，中位數11.5W美(2019)
- 地方村，有一台車交通上比較方便(2018)

其實人總是會有一種希望自己更好的慾望，上了卡內基，是不是可以望向更好的學校？我也是內心一直在跟自己掙扎，畢竟CMU大神是人家叫的，自己還是有點小虛...

While some students may wish to defer their graduate studies a full year, some MISM and BIDA students have requested the option to defer their admission until the Spring semester (January 2021). To that end, we’ve come up with a plan to allow incoming MISM and MISM-BIDA students to begin the program remotely in Fall 2020, but at a slower pace. Rather than enrolling full-time – taking four or five courses in the Fall semester – we’re offering you the opportunity to start with one or two courses. This will give you a chance to experience the remote learning experience and to get a head start on the degree. In January 2021, you would officially begin the three-semester degree program. We’ll credit the tuition you pay for the Fall 2020 courses toward the rest of the MISM degree. Essentially, you’ll get a few extra courses for no additional expense.
The January 2021 intake is available to students who meet the following criteria:
· Accepted into the MISM or BIDA programs for an August 2020 start (this includes MISM students who were originally admitted for the May 2020 intake)
· Accepted the offer of admission
· Will reside outside the United States at the start of the Fall semester
The three-semester modality of MISM and MISM-BIDA makes this option possible, whereas students in other programs who seek deferral must defer an entire year. We hope the added flexibility helps you make your decision.
